Top Ten New-To-Me Authors I Read in 2014.

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week's Top Ten Tuesday asks bloggers to list their top ten new-to-us authors we read in 2014. I couldn't narrow it down to 10 authors so this week's Top Ten Tuesday has 11. The following authors are in no particular order.

1. Jenny Han surprised me with To All the Boys I Loved Before. I loved the book so much that it made my favorites list. And it doesn't hurt that it has some diversity in it as well as a lot of sisterly bonding. There are so many emotions in this book. I can't wait for the sequel to the duology and I definitely need to check out her other books.

2. Marie Rutkoski definitely made my favorites list with her first book in The Winner's Trilogy, The Winner's Curse. Rutkoski is also the first author I met in 2014 at her book release with Kristin Cashore. Rutkoski does an amazing job with the world building and the power dynamics. I am dying to get my hands on The Winner's Crime.

3. Robin Talley's novel Lies We Tell Ourselves is powerful and a must read for everyone. There is so much diversity in this book and the book addresses important issues! Definitely check it out. I was looking forward to the book since I heard about it pre-BEA. It was a pleasure to meet Talley at BEA and I cannot wait to read more books by her.

4. Sally Green wrote Half Bad which is the first book in the Half Bad Trilogy. I love Sally's writing in this book. Green uses both first and second person narratives fairly well and it doesn't hurt that novel is set in the UK. I am super excited to read the next installment, Half Wild.

5. Cara Bertrand wrote two books in The Sententia series, Lost in Thought and Second Thoughts. What I love about this series is that there is a little bit of romance, a bit of action, a coming-of-age story and a boarding school setting. Bertrand's writing is wonderful and her books are ones you cannot put down. The third book is currently in the works.

6. Rainbow Rowell made my top favorites author list and her novel, Fangirl, made my top favorites book list. I absolutely love her writing style. She is such a sweetheart as well. I look forward to anything written by Rainbow Rowell! Also, I am super excited she is writing the screenplay for the Eleanor & Park movie! It's going to be EPIC! And yay to diversity in E&P!

7. Teri Terry wrote the Slated Trilogy which is one of my all time favorite dystopian trilogies. Her writing is brilliant and I love how her dystopian trilogy is completely different from others. I look forward to Terry's next book, Mind Games.

8. Kendall Kulper has a gift for amazing story telling. Salt & Storm is Kulper's debut novel and it doesn't disappoint. If you are looking for a fantasy with historical elements, I would definitely recommend checking this book out.

9. Laura Lane McNeal wrote Dollbaby which is her debut novel. Dollbaby made my favorites list this year because the book is absolutely amazing. The book has terrific character development and I love the 4 year within 12 year interval timeline McNeal uses. Dollbaby is also another diversity read!

10. Amy Tintera wrote the Reboot Duology which includes Reboot and Rebel. I have only read Reboot but I plan to read Rebel in the near future. Tintera does a wonderful job writing this dystopian apocalyptic story. I love her writing. I look forward to reading Ruined which is being released in 2016.

11. Malorie Blackman wrote the Noughts & Crosses Series. I heard about the Noughts & Crosses from Megan Olivier. Although I did not read the whole series, I definitely want to finish it someday because Noughts & Crosses is an absolutely amazing book. This series is also a diversity read! Blackman is also releasing an anthology she edited called Love Hurts in 2015. Gayle Forman, E. Lockhart and David Levithan are some of the authors contributing.
