Goblin Moon is the perfect Halloween picture book. Centered on spending time with family, the main character enjoys Halloween and trick or treating. As the Goblin Moon shines in the night sky, goblins come out late at night to play. The goblins like to do a moon dance, basking in the moonlight. The goblins are tricksters and like to play hide and seek. But when someone gives them treats, the little goblins are more inclined to return to their parents.

With gorgeous muted shades of color, Jacqueline Rogers has created a wonderfully illustrated book. The illustrations look like they are painted with watercolors. I love how Rogers gives the moon life with a face. Rogers gives the moon its own character drawing out the goblins. The formatting of the book is simple with rhymes with two to four lines a page. The interactions between the main character and the goblins is fun and playful. It showcases the spirit of Halloween through a child's eyes.

Goblin Moon is a picture book for all ages. When the main character gifts the goblins some of her own candy, she is in for a surprise. Before the goblins go home, she is given a cute treat at the end of the book. The book shows how sharing is caring.
